Elementary Chorus

  This choir is for 3 - 5th grade students, and is a beginning level vocal class. They will also be taught basic music reading skills, along with rhythms and vocal technique.

  Middle School Chorus

 MS Chorus is for sixth to eighth grade students. Chorus sings two-part music, and also do some three-part, and learns beginning sight singing & music theory. This choir attends MSVMA Choral Festival, and students also have the opportunity to attend Solo & Ensemble Festival if they choose. Students are expected to practice 20 minutes for 5 days/week.

   Concert Choir 

 Concert Choir is for high school students. The choir sings 4 part (SATB) music, beginning to intermediate sight singing & theory, and attends MSVMA Choral Festival. Students are eligible to perform at Solo & Ensemble Festival in January if they choose. Students are required to be in 9th - 12th grade to participate. Students are expected to practice 30 minutes for 5 days/week.

Advanced Choir  

 Advanced Choir is an audition only high school level group comprised of members from both branches of OHMI.  This choir will be performing more difficult choral literature, and an intermediate level of sight-singing.  They are expected to perform at both branch concerts, and attend Solo & Ensemble Festival and OHMI graduation.

All choral students will have a vocal placement session in August to determine their musical knowledge, vocal range & ability. This will help the director in choosing the music for each group, and what part each student will sing.
